Our Mission

To build a community of palliative care providers in West and sub -Saharan Africa through scholarships and education so that nurses and other community healthcare workers are able to give quality, compassionate care to those who are suffering.

Our Vision

That through the utilization of effective altruism, global health disparities are reduced in low and middle income countries, including access to palliative care.

Build Community Give Care (BCGC) has partnered with Hospice Africa Uganda to provide scholarship support for African healthcare workers to become palliative care providers.  It is our hope that this program will significantly increase access to essential comfort care for many people who are suffering needlessly, often at the end of life.

“Palliative care is the active holistic care of individuals across all ages with serious health-related suffering due to severe illness, and especially of those near the end of life. It aims to improve the quality of life of patients, their families and their care givers.”  -international definition of palliative care, endorsed by World Health Organization (WHO)
